Does your business have a plan to welcome new residents into the neighborhood?
If not, you may be missing out on a golden opportunity to make a great first impression…..and beat your competitors to the punch.
Everyone knows that it’s cheaper to keep an existing customer than it is to acquire a new customer. But did you know that a new customer who just moved into the neighborhood will spend alot more money during that first year in town than an existing resident? And did you know that there is a short (a few months) window of opportunity where this new resident will be searching out dozens of businesses and services in the hopes of becoming a loyal customer?
Once again, does your business have a plan to welcome new residents into the neighborhood?
If you’re a local business or service professional, these newcomers to the neighborhood are waiting for someone to sweep them off their feet. They have that “new town” excitement and are in exploration mode, like a kid in an amusement park. Give them a reason to get excited, make a great first impression that will turn them into a lasting and loyal customer for your business.
There are lots of ways to reach out to these new residents. Maybe direct mail to new developments in your area. Maybe teaming up with other local businesses to offer a “Welcome to the neighborhood” gift basket. The last one is something I’ve done in the past, we partnered with a local home builder to offer these gift baskets to every home sold. It worked great. Real Estate agents are also a great bridge to finding newcomers to the neighborhood.
If you think about all of the products and services a new family will need when they arrive to a new town, you’ll see just how much money they will spend and how much opportunity there is for a local business just like yours. From hardware stores, to pizza shops to the family dentist, they will need it all. If you’re still not sure if marketing to newbies in the neighborhood is a good idea, check out this infographic by Welcomematservices.com.
So for the final time, does your business have a plan to welcome new residents into the neighborhood?
